Ashley Madison, a dating site launched in 2001 for people already in relationship, with the slogan “Life is short. Have an affair.”, has recently announced its plans for a launch in Singapore in 2014.
The Telegraph reported that “conservative city-state” Singapore strongly opposes the launch in the country.
It’s not about whether Singapore is ‘conservative’ or not, but that infidelity goes against the core values that we believe in.
In response to Ashley Madison’s plan, we’re really glad our minister made a stand,
“I do not welcome such a website into Singapore. I’m against any company or website that harms marriage. Promoting infidelity undermines trust and commitment between a husband and wife, which are core to marriage. Our marriage vows make it clear that marriage is a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman. This includes staying faithful to one another.” -Minister for Social and Family Development, Chan Chun Sing
Because marriage is NOT a business.
Because marriage is a lifelong commitment.
Because marriage is sacred.
Because marriage is faithfulness.
Because marriage must be preserved.
Because Ashley Madison goes against true intimacy.
Because families must be protected.
Because families need to remain intact.
Because families are the building blocks of society.
Because we need to nurture our children with the right values.
Just because “life is short”, does NOT mean “have an affair”.
Because life is short, we live it well, live it right – we abide by our marriage vows and stand by our partners, “to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish; from this day forward until death do us part.”
