Late this evening, after our time at Wang Fu Jing Street (王府井大街) and Dong Hua Men Night Market (东华门美食坊夜市), we met up with Shawn, J’s softball team-mate for our first meet-up of the year.
Shawn suggested we meet at San Li Tun (三里屯) Village because it’s a pretty happening/hip place to check out.
We took a taxi from Dong Hua Men Night Market (东华门美食坊夜市) and Shawn told us to direct the cab-driver to UniQlo (优衣库) (You Yi Ku – ‘You’ means good, ‘Yi’ means clothes and ‘Ku’ means store):
From our point of view, we thought San Li Tun (三里屯) is different from Wang Fu Jing Street (王府井大街) in that the former felt more “expat-ish” and foreign – not a place of China…
J thought the boutique shops reminded her of New York…
We caught up over coffee and it was interesting to find out about Shawn’s job as a photographer in Beijing!
J, Darien, D, Emma (Shawn’s girlfriend) and Shawn:

It’s intriguing how Bao Yue and Shawn, both J’s team-mate, are in China for work (both in specialised and interesting lines) and meeting up away from home to end 2013 or start 2014. 😉
