Eat, study, eat…

This afternoon, we decided to have lunch at 永和大王 (Yong He Da Wang), a shop which we would walk by whenever we catch the Metro at Chifeng Rd Station.

J’s 卤肉饭 (braised meat rice) with vegetable and soup at RMB 18 (SGD 3.80)

After mixing the meat with the rice, it was still a tad too salty for J’s liking but D thought the saltiness was just right.

D’s 宫保鸡丁饭 (Gong Bao Chicken rice) with vegetable and soup at RMB 15 (SGD 3.15):

D loved this as it was spicy and to his “spice-level” (though he still added more chilli!).

Overall, 永和大王 is like a fast-food restaurant – they’re quick (or impatient, depending on perspective) with taking orders, food is served rather quickly and people eat very quickly too!

After lunch, we headed to 虹口凯德龙之梦购物中心 (Hongkou Plaza) to get some work done and ended up at 茶香书香 (Chastory) (again); possibly because we managed to get a table that has a power socket right by it (much needed for laptops!), its free and relatively stable WiFi as well as its serene ambience… 😉

The drinks are pretty pricey, but looking at it positively, we’re actually paying for the WiFi, ambience and an additional cup of tea to savour! 😛

It was soon time for dinner and we decided to try a ‘Yong Tau Foo’-style shop, 一线汤捞 (The Link):

Every food item has it own “unique” price, so how much you pay for your meal depends on what you choose/

These are the carbohydrates – noodles or vermicelli, take your pick:

The variety of meat, seafood, vegetables, mushrooms, meat/fishballs, etc:

As you can see, the items are “pre-packed”.

Finally, when you’re making payment, you choose the soup you’d like to have:

She chose mushroom-meatballs (RMB 2 / 0.40), bean sprouts (RMB 1 / SGD 0.20), Enoki Mushrooms (RMB 1 / SGD 0.20), Quail eggs (RMB 2 / 0.40), luncheon meat (RMB 3 / SGD 0.65), egg noodles (RMB 2 / 0.40) and pork rib soup (RMB 1 / SGD 0.20).
