This evening, we craved for Indonesian food and instead of patronising our usual Indonesian restaurant, Makanan at West End (where we visited at the end of our stay at Tangalooma), we tried out Jakarta Indonesian Restaurant with the Brissy Buddies.
The restaurant was pretty packed and so we’re glad we had made a reservation; people were turned away because the restaurant was full.
Service was slow – there were only 3 waitresses serving some 100 people? (As stated on their website, “The Restaurant seats 100 indoor and outdoor.”)
The food tasted all right but we think it’s overpriced for both the quantity and quality; it’s unlikely we’ll be back again…
Ayam Goreng Tepung – deep fried coated and marinated chicken, $15.90:
The serving is obviously quite small, the meat was all right – nothing fantastic about it; maybe we’d ordered the wrong dish?
Cumi Goreng Mentega – calamari in fried in butter and spicy sauce, $17.90:
The calamari was not fresh.
Tahu Goreng – tofu and bean sprout lightly fried and sauteed in peanut sauce, $11.50:
Saving grace of the restaurant, best dish for the evening – maybe we should’ve just ordered this…
Honestly, it’s highly unlikely we’ll be back; if anyone visits and tries any dish, do leave a comment and share your choices! 😉
