We’ve seen it on The Weekend Edition and due to some dietary constraints among a couple of us, we decided to check Au Cirque out because brunch places generally have “healthier” food options and we haven’t been there before (except Darien and Abby, who have been there for brunch and loved it!).
The temperature seemed to have just suddenly plunged today, and so instead of sitting out, where the cold wind blew as well, we decided to head in:
The cold outside made it seem all the more cosier on the inside!
They serve Genovese Coffee here, coffee roasted in Australia to resemble true Italian coffee (we’ve had our best coffee in Italy!). 😉
It was packed on the first level, and so we headed to the second level, which was also packed:
Lucky for us, we did get a table because a group left slightly before us and the staff was cleaning up.
We noticed that their tables are pretty huge, suitable for seating between 4 to 8 people at certain tables – perhaps very good for communal dining?
The staff was really helpful in answering questions posed by Darien and Jon, one of whom is on a dietary constraint (for now):
Our drinks were served very shortly after we ordered them, so we were impressed by their service! 😉
Darien’s Mocha, which was reeeeeally sweet but thick and nice:
D’s long black, which was really bitter-sweet but fragrant:
J is still unable to appreciate the true black-coffee and though she does drink coffee without sugar, she is craving something a little sweet today; her iced-coffee with ice-cream:
There was still the aroma of coffee and that bitter taste, but she’s thankful for the ice-cream to sweeten her coffee up a little. 😛
Abby asked for honey with her pot of Chai Latte and she was brought a pot of honey:
Abby liked that she could have the chai leaves immersed as long as she liked in that pot; presentation’s kind of flowery (with the pot and the sieve), but all’s good – Abby liked her Chai Latte nonetheless.
Honey, Winnie-the-Pooh style… 😛
D and Darien’s chowdown – soft poached eggs, bacon, italian sausage, thyme roasted tomato, mushrooms, potato + parmesan rösti, wilted spinach, onion jam & toasted sourdough:
Abby, Jon and J had the “vegan” vego chowdown – soft poached eggs, avocado, thyme roasted tomato, mushrooms, potato + parmesan rösti, wilted spinach, onion jam & toasted sourdough:
All of us cleared our plates out, loving not only how the poached eggs were done perfectly but also how everything seemed to fit in well and tasted delicious on our palates!
There was also a homely ambience to the place that made it really lovely to stay on and chit-chat – we were the last to leave for the day! 😛
As we explore other (brunch) places in Brisbane, we’re sure we’ll be back at Au Cirque for a nutritious value-for-money (great coffee, awesome service, lovely/homely ambience, nutritious food) brunch! 😉
