2014 Family Holiday Day 6 (I): Australian Nougat Company, Eumundi Markets & Strawberry Picking

Early this morning, Darien and Abby, who are both finally done with exams joined us on our day out today, and they bought us a birthday gift πŸ™‚

After a 2-hour, butt-aching drive, we got to the Australian Nougat Company:

They had nougat samples for us to try:

That wooden nougat paddle is the original wooden nougat paddle used by Baron Micholas Josika who began the delicious traditions of the Australian Nougat Company in 1991:

On the left is the viewing window to see their handmade production first-hand; unfortunately, no production goes on on Saturdays.

It wasn’t a very large shop but they had quite a variety of nougat to offer:

We then headed to Eumundi Markets:

We travelled so far partially for (what we think are) the best churros in Queensland! πŸ˜‰

Philippe is working by himself today:

Actually, J saw him at Eat Street Markets last night but since we were travelling up north to the Australian Nougat Company and Eumundi Markets, she thought she’d leave it till today; SO, this means that we do not have to travel so far for these yummy churros anymore!! πŸ˜€

Our brunch for today:

It’s our third time at Eumundi Markets but we just noticed these carvings on the floor:

Next, we travelled to Palmview for strawberry picking (J did not expect strawberry picking season to be on in Sunshine Coast in winter, but it is opposite to the field in Gold Coast.):

This is the strawberry cafe:

Some PYO (pick your own) tips:

β€’ Whistle while you work, please don’t eat in the patch!
β€’ You pay for what you pick
β€’ The redder, the better
β€’ Please don’t run

Although it was drizzling, we had fun strawberry picking πŸ˜€

Someone else was celebrating her birthday too, and so J took a photo too:

While we chilled for a little before travelling again, we saw a group of children playing in the rain and haystack:
